Agad niyang binuksan ang dalawang paketeng Lucky Me Jjamppong. Opo ano po. Instant noodles po. May iniintay po ba tayong mature content?

Paalala: This is NOT a sponsored post.

Consume moderately and with lots and lots of water please.

Bonus question for Lucky Me: Why the dobol-dobol JJ and the dobol-dobol PP? Sabi ba yan sa Feng Shui? Kayteynks!

I think of you.

Whenever I go somewhere pretty, I think of you.

Needless to say, I think of the children too. Our children. The beautiful creatures who copied your eyes and your comforting, magic, smile.

When I'm in an organized space that smells of citrus and expensive fabric softener, I think of our smelly room and many years-old clutter. I think of the used and unused clothes making love on the floor and in all the tiny corners of our little home.

When I am covered in intelligent ambient lights, I think of how there are tangled cobwebs in ours. And how the electric fans are broken, and the cabinet doors are falling apart.

I think of you. And I am comforted by the fact that none of these beautiful, fragrant, temporary, things are real.

I think of you and I am home. It does not always smell or look pretty, but I made a choice and I was chosen.

I think of you. And I am home.

Meet my Clet

"Hi, my name is Anacleta. You can call me Clet. I am Sir_Ko's gift for YummyliciousLady and I am purple because I am not allowed to be any other color. I think YummyliciousLady likes me very much. And one of these days, people will say that YummyliciousLady plays with her Clet all the time."

That was my Facebook post and I wrote it right after I held Clet for the first time. Ang saya, saya, saya!

Happy Birthday, Jeezaaaaaaas!

May your days be filled with love, hope and joy.

Thank you for your well wishes, support and prayers. Thank you for visiting my blog.

Please continue to pray for our little ones to always be happy, healthy and safe. And for our marriage to last all the tests of time... and the wrath of my raging hormones.

MuraKami

Hindi iyung author. Mura Kami.

Hay. We are so old!

Poetry brought to you by global warming

Kahit sumuko ang ulap,
At maglaho ang langit
Basta nandiyan ka,
Dadaloy ako sa iyong walang pag-aalala.

Kahit saglit lang
Kahit sa isang kisap lang ng mata
Kahit walang pangakong makikita ka
Araw araw kitang tatagpuin

Para mapaso ako.

At maglaho para maging ulap,
para maging ulan,
para bumalik sa buhangin,

Mahawakan ka lang.
Madampian ka lang.
Makilala ka lang.
Makita ka lang.
Marinig ka lang.

Nauubos akong dumadami.

"Grow old along with me! The best is yet to be..."

Grow old along with me!
The best is yet to be,
The last of life, for which the first was made:
Our times are in His hand
Who saith "A whole I planned,
Youth shows but half; trust God: see all, nor be afraid!''

I saw these photos in Facebook and they tickled my heart to no end. I have an intense fear of growing old. When I imagine myself all wrinkled and gray, can barely walk, can barely make it to the toilet, I hyperventilate. My husband is the only variable that makes me open to the idea of returning to infant-hood functions in an old woman's body. For him, I think this is a passable and hopeful syndication of the first line of Robert Browning's poem.

"Grow young along with me!"

36 Things You Probably Didn't Know About Sherwin (Part 2)

My husband is a very private person. He has uncompromising standards when it comes to the details of his life that he is willing to share. He maintains a VIP security access list for all his stories. Because it is his birthday, I want to make him feel uncomfortable in the same way that surprise birthday cakes and blowing candles in public make both of us squirm in places where the extroverts' sun don't shine. Of course, this is only second to the fact that I think he is the most exquisite human being alive, he should be featured in Reddit's AMA. I sure do hope that Reddit reference prevents him from disowning me tomorrow.

Disclaimers: this is a mix of funny, yucky and cheesy trivia. He may or may not disagree with everything in the list. Also, I have given birth twice (CS Delivery) so where my memory fails me, feel free to register your disdain. Most important of all - if you are also a private person who feels that this is an inappropriate birthday gift, or if you are someone who makes remarks like "cheesy-ness overload" then stop reading and move on with your life.

36 Things You Probably Didn't Know About Sherwin (Part 2)
Part 1 is here

#17. Ang mga interests ni Sherwin: time travel, developments sa science and technology, world news, politics, economics, stocks, financial management, and recently, yung Sapakan Sa Ace Hardware.

#18. Mega crushes: Natalie Portman, Scarlett Johansonn, Miranda Kerr, Angelina Jolie.

#20. Bago pa kami grumadweyt nung college marami na siyang article na na-publish sa Philippine Collegian (official student publication ng UP Diliman) at sa Today (police beat).

#23. Meron kaming one international or two domestic trips per year na goal.

Ginawa niya once, e walang kondisyon man lang, ayun nanginig ang tuhod for two days. Bwahaha!

#25. Hindi siya napapagod na kumustahin mga twice or four times a year kung peminista na ba ako ulit. Go figure.

#27. He is the most supportive husband in the universe. Dinala ako sa Rak of Aegis.

#28. He is my mother’s equal pagdating sa sarcastic and witty ways para pagalitan ako. Ayaw niya akong katabi pag amoy yosi ako. Sabi ko, naligo naman ako at nag-toothbbrush a. “Bakit natu-toothbrush mo ba ang baga mo?!?”

#30. Masugid siyang contributor/editor sa Wikipedia. At paborito niyang tambayan ang Reddit.

#31. He is my personal editor and proofreader.

#33. Speaking of takbo, our first near death experience together e nung may adik na humabol sa amin after our coverage ng libing ni Ka Popoy Lagman.

#35. May utang pa ako sa kanyang Toblerone, all flavors, from year 2000. Naglalaro kami ng “pendong, kotseng kuba” at lagi siyang panalo. Wala akong balak bayaran yan.

36 Things You Probably Didn't Know About Sherwin

36 Things You Probably Didn't Know About Sherwin

#01. His grandma named him after the "Boysen" of yesteryears. Yes, my friends. "Sherwin" was a popular brand of paint back then.
#02. He didn't speak "Tagalog" until he was almost four. His parents figured it will be safer for him if he knew how to converse in Filipino after he wandered a little too far away from home and the neighbors had a rough time understanding where he lived and how to bring him back to his house.

#03. Collier's Encyclopedia and American History: favorite books when he was a little boy.

#04. His mom taught him how to play the piano. She told me that he's a gifted kid (he could play by ear) who just lost his interest in the instrument as he got older. Last year, I heard him say he wanted to learn how to play the piano again. I giggle seeing him play "Twinkle, Twinkle, Star" in our kids' toy piano. I may just die of giggling when he starts playing songs for me. His mom will be thrilled. Of him playing the piano again not of me dying from giggling, ok?

#05. He had his first and only brother during his freshman year in high school. He had no playmates until he went to school. Except for that short amount of time when his cousins stayed in their house. He loved his cousins dearly. Their adventures make him LOL to this day (like when they etched their Bioman names in his mom's precious narra dining table).

#06. His story, not mine: he had a crush on me on the first day of high school, 1993. He still remembers what I was wearing that day. My story: I had a crush on him on the first day of high school, 1993. I still remember what I was wearing that day.

#07. In senior high, his classmates named him: Sherman, The Sexiest Man Alive

#08. His high school barkada is called "Fatal Dizazterz." It's a group of lovesick guys with a million young lady-problems in their heartbreak repertoire. I hope I spelled the "band name" right.

#09. Rajesh Koothrappali (Big Bang Theory) is not the first guy who tracked the menstrual cycle of his girl friends. Sherwin accidentally confessed that he was documenting mine long before we kissed for the first time. Pure geekery. I just loved the guy even more after this revelation.

#10. In his first job, hubby and team wrote all the copies and ads for Eastwood City - hotels, condos, restaurants, everything about that developing community back then. They also screened models in bikinis. That part of his job did not amuse me at all.

#11. He really is a man of few words. He was sleeping when I found out that I was pregnant with Potling. I had to wake him up. He said "talaga?" and closed his eyes again. Of course he made it up to me/us the next day.

#12. When it was Sopling's turn to say hello for the first time through a pregnancy test kit, I ran from the bathroom to our bedroom to show him the red lines. He said: hindi nga? Again, a man of few words.

#13. Oh but he talks too much when he's drunk. In one of our first few trips to Puerto Galera, he yelled at noisy Koreans in a karaoke bar near where we were having our quiet drinking session.

#14. Also, no matter how drunk he is, he answers my questions. I asked him a question about powerbutt girls in their office. I asked for the name of the girl with the best butt. I got a straightforward answer. Loud and clear. Because he was cooperative, helpless and half awake, this went on and on and on, until I built a complete and comprehensive list of queens for all body parts.

#15. He has an admirable, refined and intelligent taste for music and musicality. He has all the genre and eras covered. In one of our playful battles over the Winamp territory, he asked me to please change my playlist because he's not in the mood for "you and your sad songs." How are The Carpenters sadder than his Bach? :P

To be continued... Do you have a question about Sherwin? Maybe I can include some answers in the next post.

Rebel Heart In Manila

If your husband ever asks you to come see an Aerosmith concert with him, keep him company even if you only know two of their songs. If he gets into a trance state while watching his idols from his teenage years, it is not the time to hurt and wonder why and how he did not hold your hand the entire time. Because, it is all worth it. IT IS GOING TO BE WORTH IT. He will remember that you were a good girl when Madonna comes to town. And when you give up and accept that it's ok not to watch because the tickets are too expensive, he will remind you how you said that it will not matter if you have to sit on the floor for it is enough to share an enclosed space with your Goddess (sniffing molecular greatness) for a couple of hours. And he will buy the tickets. And he will watch it with you and your friends.

Oh and he will even remind you to do this, just to be sure that you are ready for the big day. I love him. I just love him. It gets "deeper and deeper, my love."

Two tipsy young adults on a swing, under the full moon and skies of Antipolo. She dared him to sing a song. He did. Earlier this morning, the same song played on the radio. He was doing the laundry while she prepared aloe vera gel for his hair fall problem.  A little girl, with his eyes and her clumsy feet, roamed the room, looking for stuff to throw outside their window.

They may stop playing our song in a few more years. Keber. The sky remembers. Besides, I'll love you even after the moon falls off from the sky.

Far fly for fireflies!

Akala raw nila may kaaway kaya sinusubukan nilang magmukhang malaki sa pamamagitan ng pagkutitap on the count of... wait meron kayang cheerleader firefly na nagbibilang?

Baywalk view from the ocean

Magical.

Photo Archives: LOST Addiction

Mulan, the laptop we lost to Ondoy, left a functional hard disk filled with good pics, good vibes and good memories. Mulan's memory has become accessible once again due to the Hubby's efforts. So there'll be more of these...

[Date Taken: 07/15/2010, 7:07AM] We were at the height of our LOST addiction. Before The Little One started living with us in Oct2011, we used to spend whatever time we had in our hands for DVD marathons.

In this couch... the big red couch before this got Ondoy-ed too.

 In this house...

Rewards

Ours will definitely be not as pretty but we're having a well deserved R&R tonight. I haven't been this excited and "thirsty" in a long time. Hope we don't fall asleep while waiting for the little one to sail to dreamland. I could imagine singing this tonight...

Row row row your boat gently down the stream.
Merrily merrily merrily sing mommy and dadda needs to get drunk.

Sugar Dadda, Very Sweet

If you don't know it yet... I'm poor. Haha! My impoverished state, as a human being is my fault and lousy choice. But I'm a work in progress, ok?

Anyways, I don't have personal savings. The Hubby and I have a serious commitment to the family's yet-to-be-established riches. Doubla haha! Our salaries are spent on bills and savings. We get payday allowances for food and transportation (for work). That's it. Everything else goes to our joint savings.

Despite my poverty, I have worldly wants. I get obsessed, once in a while, with things/activities. These "wants" of course, require financing. And I'm writing this post today to express my deepest gratitude to The Hubby for being supportive and for allowing my obsessions to be financed by the conjugal savings --- family riches. Haha again!

These are some of the many things - episodes in my life - he supported:
  • Nail Polish Episode - used to have 20 colors in my cabinet... approx. PhP40-50 per bottle. Episode ended because I could not, for the life of me, learn how to paint my right hand fingernails using my left hand. He'd help sometimes, but my nails end up looking like a Van Gogh painting. Go figure.
  • Gardening Episode - soil, plants, flower pots, plant box, daily watering... this is still ongoing. He's just not giving in to more plants acquisition because of serious space issues.
  • Hair Coloring (Salon) Episode - how many hubbies take their wives to the salon for hair color? Awwww... Oh but this has ended. I'm back to coloring my own hair. He still supports the hair color though.
  • Need New Shoes Episode - happens, if I'm not mistaken, at least twice a year. He's been encouraging me to start investing in "branded" shoes - for long shoe life. But I still like the "made in Korea" ones. Those that you can purchase for less than PhP400 per pair.
  • Walking/Jogging Episode - still ongoing but the big purchase was made sometime in May. If I didn't have a financial conscience, he would have gotten me to say yes to a really "expensive" pair. He got me my first sports bra (and was pushing for more!) and running skirt.
  • South Beach Diet Episode - started pretty recently. He said yes to all the additional expenses for vegies and spam.

And yesterday... he enrolled me in Yoga classes. Ahiiiiiiiihiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii....

I am very blessed. I just hope I could return the favor/s someday...

Father's Day in School

Loved the activity in school last Friday, 06/15/12. Dads were invited for a little activity - cap decoration! Kids, me included, loved the arts and crafts supplies! Scrapbooking stickers, glue gun, textile paint! I was in heaven!

I love it that the school supports "family activities." They were also "sensitive" to realities of life... the instructions said that if dads are "not available," any male figure in the child's life can attend.  The activity would not have alienated any kid with separated parents or missing dads or dead dads. :(

It was great seeing dads doing "girly" stuff. I could have sworn I've seen them check out each other's decorations. One dad wouldn't stop adding "stuff" on their caps... until they looked like arts and craft store racks. Competition. Beasts with glue guns. Love!

I just wish they'd schedule these things over the weekend next time... Some parents need to work, you know...
