YLSNE: Bagong Kaalaman

Mamahalin.

May isa pa akong natutunan today. Kilala niyo ba si Josefa Llanes Escoda? Ito siya.

Ngayon. Tingnan niyo naman ako. Magkamukha pala kami.

Simmering... Windows 10

Off to bed now with high hopes about Windows 10.

Maybe when the upgrade is done, the dislodged keys (product of the sum total of our children's penchant for destruction ) will be fixed too. It will be the best upgrade ever.

Wishful thinking aside, you can get a Windows 10 upgrade for zero dollars/peso/gold bars. The Hubby who knows about these kewl things reserved a slot online several weeks ago. His excitement is contagious. Ampogi pa.

I asked one of our IT guys in the office if we're upgrading to Windows 10... no clear response. Blah. If my Hubby decides to shift careers and moves to IT, he is going to be the bestest in town. I just know.

Japanese Porn Star Diet

Jenna: I'm on a crash diet to get back to my old weight by Friday.
Liz: Well, what diet is going to do that?
Jenna: Oh, it's the Japanese porn star diet. I only eat paper, but I can eat all the paper I want, so...
~ From 30Rock

You Learn Something New Everyday...

Our neighbor's laundry lady is deaf-mute. Pero napakadaldal. I can only respond with nervous laughter and hesitant smiles. No hablo, pipi-talk... I wanted to say.

I am amazed. She wouldn't stop "talking" to me despite my attempts to look busy.

Nordic Walking (Wellness and Business Opportunity)

My YLSNE (You Learn Something New Everyday) from yesterday - NORDIC WALKING.

I was doing some research about walking (for weight loss) when I read about about it. It looks really interesting, easy and effective. Read more about Nordic Walking in:

http://nordicwalking.co.uk/
http://www.nordicwalkingusa.com/
http://www.nordicwalkingonline.com/
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nordic_walking

People who want to start their own business this year... don't have time so I'm sharing the concept.

Bring Nordic Walking in the Philippines. I may be wrong but I just noticed that there are no entries in search engines for Nordic Walking in Pinas.

You can't sell what you don't know. So learn how to do Nordic Walking. Be your own product endorser by parading your skill and bling in strategic locations. Share the goods with bloggers, find a way to be featured on TV... and start getting rich. Options? Multiple choice. Select all possible answers:

I can be a:
  • Nordic Walking Instructor
  • Nordic Walking Training Center Owner
  • Distributor (of Nordic Walking shoes, accessories, instructional videos, etc.)

Be well, be wealthy!

I'm Back

Stopped blogging but never stopped cooking. This rainy Sunday is all about good food, good OPM (Original Pinoy Music) and stable internet connection.

This is lunch!

Tinolang Tahong (Mussell Soup) with Pritong Galunggong (Fried Mackarel Scad).

Finally got to Google the English translation for Galunggong. Love it! http://wiki.answers.com/Q/English_of_galunggong

YLSNE: Black Pepper's Trip From the Farm to Your Kitchen

Before anything else. I am claiming the rightful ownership of this cool acronym. The Hubby thought of this. It's ours. I don't care if some internet person discovers it and makes a brand, website, money, whatever, out of it. YLSNE. You Learng Something New Everyday.

While cooking dinner last Sunday, Hubby saw me sprinkle ground pepper in the dish. He didn't see the bottle so he got curious and asked what I just added. Pepper. Then I got curious. I asked if he's ever seen a pepper plant. I know that "munggo" (Mung Bean) comes from a pod. Our class took care of them in 5th grade gardening. But pepper plant?

We agreed that it's time to Google the origin of black pepper.

Here's the Wiki entry for Black Pepper (Piper Nigrum).

Black pepper comes from a flowering vine.

These are the seeds.

The seeds are harvested (entire stem) and are left to dry under the sun. The stems are removed after the seeds turn black.

Here's another image of the pepper drying process from Vietnam. I have no issues with feet. I just don't like it when they are involved in processing anything that will somehow find its way in my food.

May we all be blessed with black pepper, ground or otherwise, from pretty bottles. And may they bring, in their purest essence, the umph in good food. That means without the flavor of dirty feet.
