When someone leaves

It's never easy losing people unless they practically begged for you to fire their sorry ass. In 10 years (and counting) of handling teams, every direct report's resignation is a big heartache sprinkled with well wishes and hopes that your paths will cross again.

Destiny sends people your way. There's always a reason behind each interaction. You may never know why, they say. However, when people are sent my way through work, I always look at it as a cosmic assignment. You see potential, you see greatness, you see beauty, you see kindness. How can you help nurture these gifts in 9-hour shifts?

You see potential, you see greatness, you see beauty, you see kindness. And then they leave (or I leave)... And I become a distant loyal follower (cheerleader!) of their lives. No complaints, only gratitude.

To K, with whom I "walked" the same trails in life and love, although in different times... You will be missed.
